Auto Assure Charity Car Giveaway
In January of 2016, we decided that we wanted to give something back to our local community. Something a bit more than your usual sports clubs sponsorships and charity donation. We are already heavily involved with sports clubs and charities in the Dundalk area, but wanted to do something that would really stand out and make a difference to the lives of one or more people. With this in mind, we launched our first ever “Auto Assure Charity Car Giveaway”. We traded in a car, prepared it for sale to ensure there would be no mechanical issues, and we literally gave it away.
The aim of the initiative was to invite people to make a small online donation to our nominated charity (the North Louth Hospice) and after donating, nominate someone that they felt could really do with a new car. We had hoped that this car would go to someone, who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford a decent car, so it would ultimately have a huge impact on their lives. There was a huge following for the campaign on social media, and we got numerous worthy nominations. Unfortunately we only had one car, and on the 20th August, John Brennan from Tallanstown was drawn out as the lucky winner of the car. Unable to attend due to illness, the keys were collected by his family, and John was happily motoring soon afterwards. Thanks to a generous donation from Kelleher Insurance, we were also able to offer John a €250 discount on his insurance for the car. From the donations received, we were also able to donate a respectable €1200 to the North Louth Hospice, who do invaluable work in the area for patients and families of patients diagnosed with cancer.
Seeing the impact our car giveaway made on one family, and the difference it made to their lives, we decided that we would make the giveaway an annual event. Keep liking our page on Facebook to be first to hear about the 2017 Auto Assure Charity Car Giveaway… Details to be announced at the end of March 2017. A huge thanks to everyone who donated and nominated. Next year could be your year
